LifeLines

Support and community for Canadians abroad.

Living outside Canada can be exciting — and sometimes isolating.
LifeLines is a trusted, centralized directory of crisis and suicide hotlines and essential support resources for Canadians living overseas.

We also believe support goes beyond emergencies. That's why LifeLines is building an online community space where Canadians abroad can connect, share experiences, and support one another.

Because no matter where you live in the world, you're still connected.

What LifeLines is

  • A trusted directory of verified crisis and suicide hotlines, organized by country and availability
  • Essential support information for Canadians overseas
  • A moderated online space for Canadians overseas to connect and support one another

What LifeLines is NOT

  • Not therapy
  • Not replacing 988 or other crisis and suicide hotlines
  • Not a crisis service. If you are in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services

Why LifeLines Exists

An estimated 2.7 million Canadians live outside of Canada — nearly 1 in 10 citizens. While living abroad can be exciting and fulfilling, it can also bring culture shock, isolation, and moments of unexpected emotional strain.

When you’re far from home, it isn’t always clear where to find trustworthy crisis or mental health support in your current country. Searching during a difficult moment can feel overwhelming.

LifeLines exists to make that search easier.

Our mission is simple:

To provide a clear, reliable directory of crisis and emotional support resources for Canadians abroad — and to foster a small, supportive community where people can connect and share their experiences.

LifeLines does not provide direct crisis support. We are an independent directory created to help you find accurate, up-to-date crisis and suicide support services where you live.
